HTC to develop Mobile Internet Devices

DigiTimes reports that HTC is adjusting their UMPC strategy, planning to release a MID line. HTC is getting far behind companies like Asus which EEE line has known an increasingly popularity growth.

The focus of HTC’s development will continue to strengthen users’ Internet experience through mobile devices, Chou said without further elaborating on the company’s UMPC strategy.

The move comes a little bit late though, the UMPC market is getting overcrowded with every major notebook company launching a subnotebook line.

HTC is most likely to develop new MIDs ( mobile internet devices ) using Intel’s Atom and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset platforms. New devices are likely to be unveiled in the second half of 2008.
